Budgets in hospitals are not organized accordingly. They tend to be structured like the dark ages. Managers are pushing to get money, buyers are holding back on purchasing. Basically nobody really knows what is the best for the patient. Patients should always come first and be treated with the best technology available. In my opinion a better integration should take place between the industry, healthcare organisations and hospitals. I believe if an objective organisation could take part in the decision making process about purchasing certain technologies, would eventually give benefits to all the channels. This objective group should have the same knowledge of all the different market channels to improve the quality and to take away bottlenecks. This is most probably a dream, which will take many many years to work out. Who knows, one day it is perfect. Every country has the same rules, the same quality in medical care. I will update this blog will all the news I can find about this subject that I find to be important to share with you. In my opinion budgets could be organized a lot better, creating new possibilities for hospitals to purchase state of the art technology.Bart Verleg
