Olympus best buy ever!

The success of Gyrus ACMI did not go unnoticed. Olympus decided to buy the company! What did they buy? Well… they bought extremely good sales, marketing and product development resources and a very success full  product portfolio. First off all Olympus now has the most innovative and future proof energy source for minimal invasive laparoscopic and open surgery. Gyrus ACMI has developed a very safe and fast procedure to seal vessels, making several surgery procedures go fast, less invasive and a lot safer for patients and surgeons. Olympus has tried to compete against Gyrus ACMI for many years, but concluded our technology is superior to anything out there on the market. Also the CMOS technology that has been integrated in flexible ureteroscopes and soon in other devices has shown to be a big hit and again superior to the competition. With this new merger Olympus will be a very strong player on the medical devices market and will make sure that companies like Storz and Wolf will need a lot of new input to survive! Companies are being bought all the time in the medical devices industry. This has also to do with the fact that most companies sell stock. Many people have influence, many people can decide about the destiny of certain companies. In this case I believe this new combination will create a very interesting product portfolio and will prove to be successful. The benefits will be obvious. More brains will create more innovative products, which will eventually give important benefits to patients throughout the world. The next two years will show how the companies will integrate and which synergy’s will evolve. Personally I think Gyrus ACMI will have better possibility’s to develop new technology’s to perfection medical healthcare in general.  Bart Verleg
